The Great Duke has a Loadstone of three Tenths of a Grain [...], It was set by Quare the famous Watchmaker of London, and sent by him to his Royal Highness in the Year 1703. The Stone, as I was told by Signor Beneditto Bresciani, the Great Duke's Library Keeper, is perforated, and has an Iron Wire paffing thro' it, which augments its Attraction. (English)
