The Ambrosian Library, founded by Cardinal Frederic Borromeo, archbishop of Milan, and nephew of S Charles, [...] The entrance [...] is filled with books, to the number of thirty five or forty thousand; exclusive of the manuscripts, which amount to fourteen or fifteen thousand volumes.
